Apsara dye is made of Rheum emodi also known by the name Himalayan rhubarb, is a conventional natural dye used for textile. It makes bright yellow color and obtains an odoriferous property. This dye is produced by drying the rhizome and roots of a Rheum Emodi. Dye is extracted in aqueous medium from dry powdered materials. The dye when dissolved in soft water and gives golden yellow shade with the salt Alum and copper sulphate on wool and silk. This plant shares core medicinal values in the Indian Ayurveda, it acquires anti-inflammatory and anti–bacterial properties. The medicinal properties of the same are as purgative and astringent tonic.
