R&D Lab Intern

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist in the extraction of natural colours from plant-based and other natural raw materials.
2. Support laboratory trials related to natural textile dyes and food colour development.
3. Assist in formulation development, optimization, and product improvement trials.
4. Conduct basic laboratory testing for colour quality, stability, performance, and other assigned parameters.
5. Assist in colour matching, shade development, and application trials as required.
6. Prepare and maintain laboratory samples, test samples, formulations, and experimental records.
7. Accurately record observations, test results, batch details, formulations, and experimental data.
8. Support preparation and maintenance of R&D reports, SOPs, test records, and technical documentation.
9. Assist the Quality Control/Quality Assurance team in quality testing and documentation activities.
10. Assist in raw material evaluation and basic testing of natural/plant-based materials.
11. Maintain proper inventory records of laboratory chemicals, raw materials, samples, and consumables.
12. Ensure proper labelling, storage, and handling of laboratory samples and materials.
13. Maintain laboratory cleanliness, equipment, glassware, and work areas as per SOPs.
14. Assist in preparing samples for internal testing, customer requirements, product demonstrations, and application trials.
15. Conduct basic research on natural dyes, natural food colours, plant-based colour sources, and industry developments.
16. Support trial batches and scale-up activities in coordination with the R&D and Production teams.
17. Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Marketing teams for assigned R&D projects.
18. Follow all applicable laboratory safety, hygiene, environmental, and waste-disposal procedures.
19. Maintain confidentiality of formulations, processes, technical data, and company R&D information.
20. Perform any other R&D-related activities assigned by the reporting manager.

Required Educational Qualification

Candidates pursuing or having completed:

• B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Food Technology, or related fields
• Textile Technology / Textile Chemistry or other relevant disciplines

• Basic understanding of laboratory procedures and testing methods.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment, glassware, measurements, and SOPs.

• Ability to accurately record and interpret experimental observations and test data.
• Good documentation and report-writing skills.
• Basic knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to follow instructions, SOPs, and safety procedures.
• Willingness to learn natural colour extraction, formulation, testing, and application techniques.
• Interest in sustainable products, natural dyes, natural food colours, and green technologies.
